About Lowestoft & Suffolk
Ancient Suffolk Port

Lowestoft is the most Easterly town in the British Isles and was the first town in Great Britain to welcome the New Millenium. This landmark is visited by many people throughout the year.

The town offers an impressive range of beaches and parks. Not to be missed are the Norfolk Broads which are very popular with both locals and holiday makers. The National Power Boat racing championships are held at this site during summer months.

Historically shipbuilding and fishing have been the main industries in Lowestoft. The shipyards at Brooke Marine built one of Richard Branson’s trans-atlantic power boats.

The shipbuilding industry has transformed Lowestoft into a base for many companies involved in oil and gas exploration.

New housing developments are being built in and around the town due to the high demand for accommodation in the area. The latest of these developments, the Parkhill Estate, which is situated just off the A12 has easy access to Great Yarmouth and the Heritage Coast with a 5 minute drive by good public transport of by car into Lowestoft town centre.

There are many excellent schools in the Lowestoft area for all ages and a list of these is available at our office on request.

There is a railway station and a bus station situated in the town centre supplying excellent regular services to all parts of East Anglia and beyond.

Many noted writers both past and present have been inspired by this part of East Anglia some of whom are noted below:

Blundeston, a village north west of Lowestoft has close connections with Charles Dickens who used the location as the birthplace of David Copperfield.

P.D.James, the well know crime novelist has used the area as the setting for several of her books.

George Borrow spent some of his life writing "The Bible in Spain" at a location in Oulton Broad.
